Softball roundup: Libby whips Thompson Falls

LIBBY — Hannah England and Staci Regh combined on a no-hitter and Brooke Rosling went 5 for 5 at the plate and drove in four runs as Libby crushed Thompson Falls 30-0 in nonconference softball play on Saturday.

England fanned seven batters and issued no walks in three innings. Regh pitched the final two, striking out three and walking one batter.

England is now 6-0 on the season.

Libby blew the game open with a 17-run second inning. The Loggers sent 22 batters to the plate in that inning.

Libby had nine extra base hits for the outing.

Devon Gallagher homered in the first inning with two runners on to center field.

Kelsey Klin homered over the left-field fence (200 feet) with a solo shot and two outs in the second inning.

Gallagher and Klin also hit triples.

Triples were also turned in by Abby Ennenga and Taryne Luscher.

Rosling had two doubles and Dayln Germany one.

Also finishing with four RBIs were Klin, Gallagher and Germany.

Libby had 12 batters total 28 hits.

Libby (6-0) hosts Columbia Falls in Northwestern A league play on Thursday.

“We really hit the ball well,” Libby coach Dean Thompson said.

“The girls hit the ball really hard. We’re playing well.”

First Pitch Tournament

BELGRADE — Polson had a strong finish to the First Pitch Tournament, picking up a pair of wins, including a near flawless performance.

Pirates pitcher Jessica Bagnell tossed a no-hitter with 13 strikeouts in five innings against Lewistown to lead Polson to an 8-0 win in the first game of the day.

The Pirates topped Havre 4-1 to close out their run at the two-day tournament with a 3-1. The games, played in a jamboree format, don’t count towards the team’s overall record.
