Weather shortens duals for Flathead, Glacier netters

MISSOULA — Glacier and Flathead tennis saw a little of everything before wind and rain ended the day early for all the teams on Saturday.
The Wolfpack boys topped Helena High in one of a pair of duals it played. Glacier beat the Bengals 5-3 thanks to a singles win by Matt Grandeur and a sweep in doubles. The teams of Spencer Johnson and Greg Jones; Eli Herlein and Sam Stern; Ben Wright and Kyler Harkins; and Chazz Upton and Keanan Brown all picked up straight set victories to get the team win.
The team struggled against Hellgate, falling 5-1 to the Knights before weather ended the dual. Grant Germann picked up the only win for the Wolfpack, winning a marathon match against Hellgate’s Sean Lodmell, 7-5, 2-6, 1-0 (7).
Two matches were in progress when the dual was called. The Glacier girls had three matches in progress against Hellgate with none completed. Both duals against Capital scheduled for later in the day were cancelled.
The Wolfpack girls tied Helena High earlier in the day, sweeping their doubles matches as Olivia Malchi won in straight sets at No. 3 singles.
Flathead dropped both of its matches on Saturday, the Braves falling to Sentinel 6-2 despite singles wins from Glenn Strickler and Tyler Beagley. The Bravettes lost to the Spartans 7-1, Jenna McGuire picking up the lone point at No. 2 singles with a 6-2, 6-3 win.
