On the morning of April 10, 2014, Ruth Bushby died of natural causes at her home with family at her side.

She was born Ruth Arline Powell in Vermillion, S.D., Aug. 13, 1928.

Ruth married William Bushby in 1949. They farmed in Iowa until settling in Montana with their young family in 1962.

Her primary profession was as a homemaker. She also worked as a Flathead County election judge for 25 years. Other employers include Bob and Marianne’s Farm Market and Street Tax Service. Ruth was a member of Birch Grove Willing Workers for 45 years. She attended New Covenant Church.

She loved unconditionally and lived without judgment of others. Often she would comment, "Hate the sin but love the sinner."

Reading and doing crossword and sudoku puzzles were common choices for relaxation. She also enjoyed gardening, going to the gym and walking. At age 85 she still insisted on mowing the lawn. She would say, "It might take me longer than it used to but I'm going to get it done."

Ruth was preceded in death by her parents, her husband Bill, infant grandson Jeraemy, and seven of her brothers and sisters.

She is survived by her sister, Wilma Jones, of Kalispell; daughters, Brenda Carper of Whitefish, Helen Tyree of Kalispell, and Mae Fulmer of Arlington, Wash.; and son, Fred Bushby, also of Arlington. Survivors include her beloved grandchildren, great-grandchildren and nieces and nephews. She leaves behind many cherished friends.

A memorial service will be held in her honor at 2 p.m. Friday, April 25, at New Covenant Church on Birch Grove Road in Kalispell.

Donations in lieu of flowers can be sent to Home Options Hospice, 275 Corporate Drive, Suite 600, Kalispell MT 59901.
