Students inducted into special honor societies

 Glacier High School’s International Language Department inducted 27 new members into the National Spanish and French honor societies April 14.

The following students were inducted into the Spanish Honor Society: Leesha Baumann, Elise Byle, Joceline Denton, Christian Diaz, Tera Fisher, Zachary Floyd, Grant Germann, Charmayne Glasman, John Hayes, Noah Hill, Hunter Kauffman, Jael Konecky, Jordan Krueger, Alexis Larson, Kaitlin McHugh, Katelyn Parmelee, Elizabeth Sullivan and Devon Zander.

French Honor Society inductees included Kaitlyn Anderson, Julia Boharski, Julia Cecil, Heather Cox, Emma Epperly, Mercede Erickson, Brooke McCann, Emily Morison, Alexandra Newton, Madelena Paulson, Jessica Ponce, Quinlan Reel, Emma Sheldon and Taylor Treece

Eligible students must be in at least their third year of foreign language study, have an “A” average in their current language class, have a 3.5 or higher cumulative average in all previous language classes, have a 3.0 or higher overall grade point average during the semester of induction and be considered a student in good standing.

Additionally, students serve as peer tutors in their language.

The Spanish Honor Society is affiliated with the American Association of Teachers of Spanish and Portuguese and the French Honor Society with the American Association of Teachers of French.  

Science teacher Ben Young was also honored with the Friend of Languages Award for showing exemplary support of International language learning, teaching and culture in the Flathead Valley. Recipients of this award are selected by the students.
