Brosia Louise 'B' (McDivitt) Cashmore, 71

| April 19, 2014 11:22 AM

Brosia Louise “B” (McDivitt) Cashmore, 71, passed peacefully with her sons and family by her side on Friday, April 11, 2014, after a long battle with cancer.

She was born in Kalispell on Sept. 3, 1942, to AC McDivitt and Brosia White McDivitt.

Brosia grew up in the Flathead Lake area and graduated from Polson High School in 1960.

She married Robert William Cashmore in 1962. While raising their two young sons, she taught swim lessons, manned a crisis center hotline and worked with the American Red Cross. Later Brosia worked at the Great Falls Bon Marche, and then the Holiday Village Mall as marketing/advertising director. She was a longtime member of the Ad Club and an integral facilitator of the annual C.M. Russell auction. In fact, Brosia was an artist in her own right.

Brosia was active and loved the outdoors. She hiked, golfed, skied, rode horses, ran barrels, played polo, watched birds, floated and hiked the Grand Canyon. People may remember her for her love of animals, especially dogs and horses. Brosia would light up any room with a smile, a laugh and her dry sense of humor. She was an avid reader, loved crossword and scrabble, and her friends describe her as fun, outgoing, indefatigable, yet independent and stoic.

Brosia was preceded in death by her parents and her brother Billy.

She is survived by sons, Bourck and Renee Cashmore of Flagstaff, Ariz., and Thain and Catherine Cashmore of Pocatello, Idaho; grandchildren, Reilly, Claire, Liam, Sasha and Jonah; her sister, Mary Ann and Jim Ratchye; brother, John McDivitt; and stepmother, Helen McDivitt. She also leaves behind her beloved dog, Sophie.

Whenever asked if she needed anything, she would reply with a classic Brosia-ism, “No fine, I’m thanks.”

A celebration of her life will be held in Great Falls and at Flathead Lake later this summer.

In lieu of flowers, donations in her honor may be made to the American Cancer Society or Benefis Sletten Cancer Institute in Great Falls.
