A Kalispell woman has pleaded not guilty to a felony charge after allegedly biting a Kalispell police officer.

Andrea Daugs, 35, entered the plea April 10 in Flathead District Court.

A court document claims that two Kalispell police officers responded to the VFW on First Avenue West after receiving a report that a woman later identified as Daugs was yelling and screaming at patrons. Officers asked her to leave but she allegedly refused.

The officers then handcuffed Daugs and escorted her outside, although she resisted.

Daugs allegedly fought officers as they tried to get her into a patrol vehicle, and one of the officer said she bit him on his left arm.

If convicted, Daugs faces between two and 10 years in the Montana State Prison and a fine of up to $50,000.

She was initially incarcerated in the Flathead County Detention Center, where her bond was set at $10,000, but she was later released on her own recognizance with several requirements, including a special restriction that she may not enter the VFW.

Her next hearing is set for July 16.
