Bigfork, Ronan split dual
BIGFORK — Led by Lana Berg at No. 1 singles, the Bigfork girls rolled to an easy Class B tennis dual win over Ronan on Thursday afternoon.
Bigfork won all matches — four in singles and both doubles — to post a 6-0 score.
Ronan nearly turned the tables on Bigfork in boys action, however, winning that dual 5-1.
Berg was in command of her match, easily downing Shannon Saint 8-2.
“She played a good game, a smart game, a consistent game,” Bigfork coach Paul Sullivan Jr., said of his top player.
“This was a good opportunity for her to work on some of her strategies.”
Kalia Wicklund and Alauna Weilacher both won 8-0 at Nos. 2-3 singles for the Valkyries.
The closest battle was at No. 2 doubles. Bigfork’s Genovieve Gibson and Alex Hider prevailed 8-6.
For the boys, Adam Jordt and Isaac Martel, at No. 1 doubles, dominated with an 8-2 victory.
“They played terrific,” Sullivan said.
“They came out strong and were aggressive. They were doing all the things we’ve been working on in practice.”
Bigfork is back on the courts Saturday at the Libby Invitational.
