Cleanup events planned Saturday
A variety of events are planned Saturday throughout the Flathead Valley to keep your community green and clean or raise awareness of issues related to Earth Day.
Here’s a look at what’s going on:
Whitefish will hold its annual Clean the Fish community cleanup day. A breakfast for volunteers will be served at 8:30 a.m. at Glacier Bank, 329 E. Second St. Volunteers then fan out at 9:30 a.m. to pick up litter and spruce up the town.
At 11:30 a.m. there will be a barbecue and prize drawings. Call 863-6300 for more information.
The Whitefish Theatre Company is hosting a spring cleaning day from 9 a.m. to noon. Meet at the O’Shaughnessy Center, One Central Ave. Lunch will be served at noon with a glimpse of the upcoming theater and music season. Call 862-5371 if you can help.
In Columbia Falls, Clean Up the Falls will go from 9 a.m. to noon.

The Whitefish Community Garden has its opening-day open house from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. The garden is behind Whitefish United Methodist Church off Wisconsin Ave. For more information, visit www.whitefishcommunitygarden.net.
In Pablo, there will be a roundtable discussion from noon to 3 p.m. at Salish Kootenai College in the late Louie Caye Sr. Memorial Building. A variety of speakers will be on hand and lunch will be provided.
Montanans for Climate Solutions is sponsoring several rallies from noon to 1 p.m. to raise awareness about climate change and support positive solutions. For more information, go to meic.org:

The Rebecca Foundation’s Cloth Diaper Closet and Nature Baby Outfitter in Whitefish are hosting a nonprofit event at 10 a.m. at the Flying Fish Kids Gym at the Whitefish Mountain Mall.
The event is part of a worldwide attempt to break the Guinness World Record for changing the most cloth diapers and bringing attention to their use. Parents are invited to bring their babies to change. Cloth diapers will be available.

“Stories from the Mountain, Songs from the Soul” starts at 7:30 p.m. at the O’Shaughnessy Center in Whitefish.
Tickets cost $5 at the door.
The evening of art, music and science centers around tales of climate change inspired by Glacier National Park.
A variety of guest speakers, artists and climate experts will speak. Entertainment will be provided by The Crown of the Continent Choir and the bluegrass band Left Side Brains.
