A driver involved in a collision Thursday morning on Montana 40 suffered a torn biceps.

David Maxwell, 35, of Whitefish said he was cited for a seat-belt violation after the crash involving Flathead County Commissioner Cal Scott.

Scott was cited for a right-of-way violation. He had started to pull out onto the highway, then tried to back up as Maxwell’s pickup truck approached.

Both Maxwell and Scott said their vehicles were totaled. Maxwell was driving a 1972 Ford pickup and Scott was driving a 2006 GMC pickup. Scott was not injured.
