Softball: Polson splits with Hamilton, Loyola at Frenchtown Invitational

FRENCHTOWN — Polson lost a big lead in the fourth inning to fall to Hamilton 12-9 at the Frenchtown Invitational softball tournament on Saturday.

The Pirates scored seven runs in the third inning to take a 7-0 lead, but allowed 12 runs over the next two frames to fall behind for good.

The Pirates bounced back to finish the two-day event with an 18-1 victory over Missoula Loyola.

Back-to-back home runs by Jessica Bagnell and Hannah Potter in the first inning gave the Pirates an early 2-0 lead.

Whitefish drops pair

FRENCHTOWN — Whitefish held a 4-0 lead after two innings, but Stevensville rallied late to pull it out, winning 15-9.

Jordan Sletton led Whitefish offensively, going 3-for-4.

In the other outing for the Bulldogs at the Frenchtown Invitational, Corvallis rolled to a 17-2 victory.
