POLSON — Justin Wallace struck out 13 batters, allowed three hits and walked just one during his six innings on the mound as the Kalispell Lakers AA defeated Mission Valley A 11-0 in the first game of a doubleheader on Sunday in American Legion baseball play.

Sam Crompton pitched the seventh for the Lakers, walking two batters and striking two out.

In the second game, it was more stellar work by the Lakers mound staff. Brandon Maassen went the distance in a 6-3 victory. He allowed three hits, fanned 11 and walked six in seven innings.

Kalispell held a 4-0 lead after three innings in the opener, pushed three runs across the plate in the fifth and completed the scoring with a four-run seventh.

Wallace and Justin Rich both had two RBIs.

Six Lakers finished with one hit each — Walker Malmin, Rich, Adam Frandsen, Jake Barstow, Crompton and Colten Wiley.

Ryan Pablo, Jared Young and Brennen Andrews had one hit each for Mission Valley.

In the second game, Rich went 2-for-4 to lead the offense. Kalispell had four hits. Chris Hibley and Levi Brenneman had the other two.

Alex Killian, Raymond Matt and Bransen Krebs each had one hit for Mission Valley. Killian doubled for the game’s lone extra base hit.

Mission Valley struck first, scoring twice in the bottom of the first inning. The Lakers bounced back with four in the top of the second. They added two more in the top of the seventh.

Kalispell’s home opener is Saturday versus the Helena Senators AA in a nonconference doubleheader. The first seven-inning game begins at 1 p.m. The Lakers stay home Sunday to face Belgrade A for a doubleheader, also starting at 1 p.m.
