Char Terry Sherman: Candidate touts her customer service experience
What qualities and specific job skills do you have that will allow you to be an effective Clerk and Recorder?
I have a background in finance, and over 40 years experience providing superior customer service and customer relations. In both small and large companies, I have been very successful in team management and leadership.
I worked in the Clerk and Recorder’s Office for more than seven years. During that time I worked closely with Paula Robinson (current clerk and recorder) and I have a comprehensive understanding for what the job entails. My expertise in organizational, process and resource management make me uniquely qualified to represent the citizens of Flathead County. I will preserve and protect the documents in the Clerk and Recorder's Office.
I view the oversight of the election process to be a top priority. The election process needs to be efficient, impartial and fraud-proof. I have a very strong work ethic, and I bring the skills and insight to fulfill these responsibilities.
What changes, if any, would you make in how the Clerk and Recorder Office is run?
I will make sure that the many improvements Paula Robinson has implemented in the last 12 years will continue. I am a servant at heart and I want that servant's heart to show every time someone walks up to the counter for help. My goal is for everyone to be treated as I would like to be treated.
Why do you want to be Clerk and Recorder?
I am a Montana girl through and through. I love this valley and want to serve in a way that will make a difference. I believe honesty, integrity and service are imperative, not only in my personal life but in county government as well.
When I worked at the Clerk and Recorder's Office in the late ’90s, I was told we are the only game in town and we don't need to be friendly. This is an experience that has always stuck with me and I want to show Flathead County we are different. This is the reason I want to be clerk and recorder.
