Some dogs do wrong; so do people
The Flathead County Sheriff’s Office received several dog-related complaints throughout the day Tuesday.
A Ninth Street West landlord and his tenant in the Columbia Falls area both called police after the tenant started to yell at the landlord’s dogs to be quiet, which turned into a scuffle when the landlord tried to pull the man away from his dogs. The tenant was advised he would be arrested for trespassing if he returned and told to call police if he had a problem with the dogs in the future.
A McMannamy Draw resident reported the neighbor’s pit bull and bulldog were fighting with the resident’s dogs and biting at the resident’s grandchildren. The dogs had apparently escaped from their home by jumping out of a window.
A Bernard Road woman was injured when a pair of great Danes charged at her and her dogs, causing her to fall down her stairs. The dogs were found to be opening a garage door and getting out.
A Columbia Falls-area man reported his wife was walking their dog when a pit bull came out and attacked their dog.
Deputies responded twice to a Ridgewood Drive home, where a drunk woman was yelling profanities at her neighbors and drawing the attention of other neighbors due to a dispute over property lines. During the second call, she was advised her neighbors controlled all of the property in question up to her trailer and that she had no right to the back yard.
A woman was arrested for assault and partner assault after attacking her boyfriend, chipping his tooth by throwing furniture at him. He told police that she had been snorting her prescribed Ritalin and that the last time they got into an argument, she set his truck on fire.
A Shady Lane resident reported an extremely drunk man was acting disorderly at a neighboring bar and that he walked to the resident’s fenceline trying to start a fight and yelling at the resident. A responding officer was unable to locate the drunken would-be brawler.
A mad motorist who appeared to be on drugs and had “sketchy eyes” jumped out of his truck and yelled obscenities after hitting a support post on the front of an Electric Avenue building.
A quartet of teenage boys were reported trying to kick in the doors of a Commerce Street high school in Bigfork.
A 12-year-old boy returned home from school saying a 16-year-old girl had threatened to slit his throat.
A Somers Road man reported a woman put syrup in his gas tank and now his vehicle wouldn’t start at all.
A Kalispell Police Department officer advised a very drunk man of his warrant and to stay out of the road after he was reported staggering around Willow Glen Drive, flipping off passers-by before lying down in the middle of the road.
A package containing a suspicious substance was intercepted at a North Meridian Road delivery business before being shipped to its intended destination in Missouri. It was turned over to the drug task force.
Someone smashed the glass in a door at the Woodland Park pool area.
A would-be shoplifter changed her mind, removing bottles of alcohol from her purse before leaving the store. An employee was advised by Whitefish Police Department to contact the store’s owner to ask what to do if it should happen again.
Columbia Falls Police responded to a report of vandalism damage to several buses at a 13th Street West property.
