Decomposing body or dead deer?
A woman called the Flathead County Sheriff’s Office to investigate a “rotting meat smell” in the swampy area near her home on Rose Crossing on Thursday. A deputy responded and said the area is not really accessible by foot, but he couldn’t smell anything. The caller was worried it might be a dead body and was wondering if police had any missing person reports. The deputy believes the smell is more than likely caused by a dead deer.
Traffic was rerouted after workers blew a gas line on Three Mile Drive on Friday. The road was closed for hours. Flaggers rerouted traffic at Stillwater Road and Garland Street.
Police were called about a stolen water truck that’s been missing since Wednesday night from a Columbia Falls location on Best Way.
A landlord evicted her renters from a location on Foy’s Lake Road; the former residents stole a patio set and stackable washer/dryer set.
A man found an injured black-and-white kitten at his job site in Somers. The kitten had a broken femur and was taken to the vet by officers.

A mobile home park manager posted signs with a photo of crosshairs and the saying, “We need to hunt this guy down,” in reference to a man that lives in the nearby woods. A neighbor was concerned it was sending the wrong message. Officers advised the manager that her signs probably were sending the wrong message, and she said she would remove the signs and put up ones that are “more appropriate and less confrontational.”
A woman called from Crossbow Trail to say that her neighbor had tried to hit her children with his car on Monday.
A woman was arrested on Conrad Drive for a probation violation after she sat on her front porch and yelled at her neighbor.
The Kalispell Police Department received a call Thursday about a man smoking pot on First Avenue East. It turns out the man was rolling his own cigarettes.
The train lights at the intersection of Appleway Drive and North Meridian Road are not working. A flagger will stop traffic for trains until they are fixed, which likely will be today.
