Robert 'Bob' Stansbery, 75

| August 1, 2014 2:40 PM

Robert "Bob" Stansbery passed away on July 31, 2014, surrounded by his loving family and friends.

Born in Indiana on Sept. 22, 1938, to Howard and Mabel Stansbery, he moved to Santa Rosa, Calif., as a child where he grew up. He returned to Santa Rosa after serving in the U.S. Air Force and raised his family.

He moved to his beloved Montana in the early ‘80s, and in 2002 he married his loving wife Lucille. They spent the last 12 years together enjoying the state they loved so much.

Bob was an avid hunter and fisherman, and spent many hours doing both. He was a huge NASCAR, 49er and Giants fan, and enjoyed many "spirited" debates with his sons-in-law and grandsons.

He was preceded in death by his parents, and his brother Howard Jr.

Bob is survived by his wife, Lucille; his daughters and their husbands, Julie and Rob Sutliff, and Robin and Butch Frediani. He was the proud grandfather, "Papa," of Robert and Jo Ann Studebaker, Ryan and Becca Sutliff, Jared and Angela Sutliff, Leo and Bethany Frediani, and Lee Frediani; great-grandfather to Marshall and Sydney Sutliff, and Tatyana, Rozalyn and Vyola Studebaker; Lucille's beloved children and their spouses, Steven and Joelle Studebaker, Connie and Robert Douglas, Barbara and Nathan DeJung, and Sonya and Randal Thomson, and their children, Sean and Kayla Douglas, Melinda Studebaker (daughter Renee), and Travis, Jeffery, Austin and Haley DeJung; as well as many close friends who loved and supported him.

The family would like to thank the staff at Kalispell Regional Medical Center/Brendan House, especially Dr. Woodward and Dr. Jonas. Their care and compassion were such a comfort.

No services were held at his request.

Johnson-Gloschat Funeral Home is caring for Bob’s family.
