BILLINGS (AP) — A Billings man who was arrested on suspicion of violating his probation is now charged with trying to walk out of the Yellowstone County jail booking area with two other men who were being released.

The Billings Gazette reports 32-year-old Alexander Campos pleaded not guilty Tuesday to felony attempted escape during a District Court appearance made by video from jail, where he is being held on $125,000 bail.

Prosecutors say Campos was in the booking area on July 30 when he borrowed an undershirt from one man and a hat from another and tried to walk out of the jail with them.

An officer, who had called the names of two men to be released, ordered all three back into the booking area until he confirmed their identities.
