Beer-can tossing is all the rage

The Lake County Sheriff’s Office was called when a drunk driver in an 18-wheeler was spotted on U.S. 93. The caller saw him “tossing tall silver bullet Coors Light cans out the window.” The semi, which was also pulling a flatbed trailer, was reportedly swerving all over the road. 

A man called police after he saw a silver convertible with California plates throwing beer cans out of the passenger window on Kerr Dam Road. 

Officers received a report Wednesday of an intoxicated male walking along U.S. 93 and “falling around on the side of the road.” The caller was concerned that the man was going to fall into traffic and get hit. 

A woman called police after hearing gun fire for about 30 minutes. After looking into the situation, officers found that it was someone target practicing. 

A bull was loose near Forman Road and Reeves Lane. 

A woman found an unwanted intoxicated man passed out on her front porch on Cleveland Street. 

A kindly citizen called to report a homeless man walking on the bridge on Montana 82. The caller thought that “the bridge was small, and if a car came by they could hit him with their mirror and knock him over.” 

A man called from a location on Main Street and reported that people “keep smoking marijuana in the alley.” The caller stated that the marijuana smoke goes into their house and makes his wife very sick, as she is allergic to it. 

A man called police to find out what he could do about “someone slamming him on Facebook.” 


Kalispell Police received a report of a theft from Hutton Ranch Road after a man walked out of a business there with a $200 coffeemaker. 

A fire alarm led officers to find that a school had been broken into on Fourth Avenue East. The fire extinguishers had also been discharged. 


A woman called Whitefish Police on Wednesday to report a truck that was “completely open” on East Second Street. According to the woman, there was a bunch of equipment in the truck and a ladder that was in the back “flew out of the truck and hit her car.” The driver of the truck was not on scene. It remains unclear how a ladder flew out of a nonmoving vehicle. 

A man left his motorcycle for sale in front of his home on Edgewood Place only to have it stolen sometime Tuesday night. 


Columbia Falls Police received a call from Ninth Street West where a vehicle drove off with $25 in gas. 


A woman called the Flathead County Sheriff’s Office after spotting a bunny with blow darts in its eyes on U.S. 2 East near Hungry Horse on Wednesday. 

A group of about 30 cows escaped from a pasture Wednesday near Kila. The owner of the ranch had recently died, and the caller was unsure of who to contact to corral the cows. 

A Whitefish woman found a dead bat. It was picked up and sent for rabies testing. 

A man called to thank officers “because he got some sleep last night.” 

A dead rabbit was found on a man’s front door step on North Riding Road. The man stated it isn’t the first such occurrence in the neighboorhood, as his neighbor had a dead rabbit placed in his mailbox. 

A delivery person walked into a business on U.S. 2 East at around 3:30 a.m. Thursday to find that nobody was around. When police arrived, they found the cashier sleeping in an office behind the counter. The cashier had a cut on his head and stated he had fallen earlier in the day and may have a concussion, but refused medical assistance.
