Erwin Rohde, 92
Erwin Rohde “went to be with Jesus” on July 30, 2014, after spending 10 days at St. Luke Extended Care in Ronan.
He was born April 27, 1922 in Burwell, Neb. He was the third of four sons, all of whom became ministers.
Erwin graduated from high school in Burwell and from North Central University, Minneapolis, in 1945.
He married Jean Spearman on June 4, 1946. The couple had two daughters.
Erwin served as a pastor for 21 years in Nebraska, and as a state leader for the Assemblies of God before moving to Great Falls in 1966, where he was pastor at Central Assembly for 17 years. In 1983 he became the superintendent for the Montana Ministry Network of the Assemblies of God, requiring a move to Billings. He served in that capacity until his retirement in 1989.
Most of Erwin’s retirement years were spent with his wife in Yuma, Ariz., where he served as pastor for Westwinds RV Park during the winters. Summers found the Rohdes at their cabin at Glacier Bible Camp in Hungry Horse. For the past year, they resided near their daughter in Polson.
Erwin is survived by his wife, Jean; his daughters, Kathy and Paul Olson, and Philly and Gary McRee; grandchildren, Katie and Todd Knutson, and Caleb and Kate Olson; and great-grandchildren, Jane Knutson and Rohde Olson.
A celebration of life will be at 1 p.m. Saturday, Aug. 16, in the Glacier Bible Camp Lodge in Hungry Horse.
Donations may be made to Glacier Bible Camp for the Guest House being built there in Erwin’s name.
