ANCHORAGE, Alaska — The Glacier Twins couldn’t capitalize on early chances, falling 15-4 to Pocatello in the second round of the Northwest Class A Regional American Legion baseball tournament on Saturday.

Much like in their opener, Glacier loaded the bases in the first inning with two outs. After allowing a run in the top of the frame to the Razorbacks, the Twins had a chance to earn a few back, but struck out the next batter to end the inning.

Glacier pitching had a rough start to the second inning, hitting a batter on the first pitch then giving up a single and walking the next four batters, allowing three runs before recording an out. Another single scored two more runs and the Twins trailed 6-0 before getting out of the inning.

The Twins trailed 10-0 after the third inning, having more issues with walks after getting to two outs.

The fifth inning gave the Twins a boost, Tyler Murphy reaching on an error to start the inning. Pocatello walked the next three betters to score a run and a grounder to first base from Vincent Smith scored another. Glacier scored two more in the sixth inning, Colton Gove hitting in a pair on a line single through the left side of the diamond to cut the deficit to 10-4.

Pocatello ended any hopes of a rally in the eighth, when first baseman Connor Lamont blasted a two-run homer over the right field wall. The Razorbacks scored three more in the ninth, including a two-run triple from Kam Farnsworth, who picked up his fifth RBI of the game on the swing.

Gove was 2 for 4 with a pair of RBIs and Smith was 2 for 4 with a double for the Twins.

Glacier will play North Medford (Ore.) in a loser-out quarterfinal at 1 p.m. Mountain time today. The game can be streamed for a fee at www.nfhsnetwork.com/associations/asaa.

North Medford advanced earlier on Saturday by beating host team Dimond 8-5 in a loser-out game. Juneau (Alaska) topped in-state foe Fairbanks 14-0 to stay alive in the tournament. Juneau will play Cody, Wyo. who beat lost to Northern (Hyrum) Utah 5-0 in the second round. Pocatello will play Utah.
