Is there a law about sleeping in the barn?

A woman called the Flathead County Sheriff’s Office on Monday to report that she had been locked out of the house the night before by her boyfriend’s parents and she had to sleep in the barn. The woman wanted to know “if there is a law stating they cannot treat her that inhumanely.”

A woman called in a report from Hungry Horse who stated that she was driving down the street and a man and a woman yelled at her to “Get the [expletive] off the road.”

A mailbox was smashed on Fairmont Road.

A man called to report that he had sold a motorcycle and the check bounced. The man said the suspect is now attempting to sell the motorcycle on Craigslist.

A Martin City woman called police Monday morning to report a woman that has been in her camper for three days, “had not eaten in several days but had been drinking heavily.” The reporting party wanted to call an ambulance for the woman, but she refused. She was also advised that she couldn’t live there anymore, and the woman said that she’d be out the next morning. About three hours later, the intoxicated woman appeared in the nude outside of her camper after reportedly screaming and yelling inside. She was taken to the hospital.

A welfare check was made on a man and woman who were apparently so intoxicated they passed out. The man was passed out in a Dumpster, while the woman was passed out in a nearby vehicle.

A not-so-nice neighbor was reported for throwing apples at his neighbor’s house on Antelope Trail.

A concerned citizen called police after hearing someone in the street “screaming that people are going to get killed.” When officers responded on Caroline Road, the subjects stated that they were yelling at dogs, not people.


Kalispell Police were called when a man was spotted on East Montana Street on Monday laying down wearing only a short robe that “covered nothing from the waist down.” Police advised the man to keep his clothes on.

A man and woman shoplifted $93 in groceries by using the self-checkout at a location on Third Avenue East North.

A man called police to say that he has “a bunch of cats pooping in the new rubber mulch that he just laid out.” He wanted to speak to an officer as to how to handle the situation.

A man walked out of a store screaming obscenities as passersby at a location on Hutton Ranch Road.


The Whitefish Police Department was called Monday morning when the reporting party’s neighbor was “screaming inappropriate language” at the caller. Officers counseled both parties and advised them to get along.

A report was made from a Central Avenue location indicating that people are speeding through the alleyways to avoid road construction. The alleys near road construction areas will have extra patrol.

A woman was reportedly having a “mental breakdown” on Railway Street on Monday when she was outside, walking back and forth, and putting what appeared to be clothes into a nearby Dumpster.

A man got out of a vehicle on Cedar Pointe Loope and slashed two tires and then took off walking, according to a concerned citizen.

A man called to report that a woman ran out of her yard to the road as he was driving by, “yelled curse words at him” and then ran back inside.

Police assisted a bartender who didn’t want to approach a passed-out man on Central Avenue early Tuesday morning.

A group of about six people were involved in a fight on Central Avenue early Tuesday morning. According to the caller, two men started fighting, and then a female was throwing punches. Then, as the fight started to dissipate and people were separating, two women started at it again. The report from dispatch said that the subjects would be in to fill out statements the next day when they were sober.


The Lake County Sheriff’s Office made a DUI arrest Monday on U.S. 93.
