What Republican voters want to see
I am 84 years old and have been a loyal supporter of the Republican party since I was first eligible to vote in 1952, when our party won with “Ike.”
I believe in the basic tenets of our party: Smaller government; encouragement of small business development; preservation of Medicare; responsibility and accountability by those representing us; keeping America’s military funded and supplied with the most technologically up-to-date weaponry; having our borders secure; endorsing and enforcing our Constitution; operating our government with the three distinct and separate entities of legislative, judicial and presidential branches; the right to bear arms; freedom of religion; promotion and development of top-notch education systems to keep us competitive in today’s world; and finally on my list, PROPER immigration reform, whereby people learn our language, comprehend and obey our laws, and make a commitment to our country through legal procedures, NOT AMNESTY.
I have been very impressed with the ideas Rep. Steve Daines has put forth on balancing the budget, keeping Medicare solvent, promoting more business growth in Montana, making people in Washington accountable and responsible, and protecting and developing Montana’s resources. I would like to see Rep. Daines continue with POSITIVE ads promoting his ideas; leave the negativity to the other side.
I would also like to ask Rep. Daines to make clear to House Speaker Boehner and other influential Republican Party leaders that the majority of people I know and am in contact with ARE NOT INTERESTED in having him sue President Obama but would rather the party make up a pledge sheet, much like the one Newt Gingrich did, expressing how OUR PARTY truly represents all factions of our country’s citizens, thereby men, women, minorities, students, elderly, small business owners, veterans, poor, homeless, etc., and HOW OUR PARTY will be there for them. —Jayne Tienken, Whitefish
