'Why is my car in pieces at the fire hall?'
A woman called the Flathead County Sheriff’s Office Tuesday saying that she had loaned her vehicle to a friend, and she was astonished to find it all smashed up in front of the Smith Valley Fire Hall. It turned out the friend believed that he had permission to use parts from the vehicle, because the engine was blown. He later scrapped it at a recycling center, which then donated it to the fire department so it could be used for Jaws of Life rescue practice. It was agreed that it was a misunderstanding and a civil matter.
A woman calling from Wishert Lane in Coram reported that many items had been stolen from her home, possibly by her granddaughter.
A man calling from Montana 83 near Bigfork reported that his goat was attacked, probably by a neighbor’s dogs, and he was pretty sure it was going to die. The man wanted to know if he could shoot the dogs if he catches them attacking his animals.

Whitefish Police were called Tuesday by North Valley Hospital personnel who were concerned about a patient who had a knife on a string around his neck. He initially refused to surrender it, but he eventually turned it over to security.
