Chicken herder ends up in kennel

The Flathead County Sheriff’s Office received a call that “someone was screaming to stop hitting them” on Hanging Rock Drive in Bigfork. Upon further investigation, officers found a woman who had locked herself in a large dog kennel trying to herd her chickens.

Five silver solar lights were stolen from someone’s driveway on Deer Trail in Whitefish sometime Tuesday night.

A man called from Rest Haven Drive in Whitefish saying a lot of people speed past his residence, and told dispatch that “if someone doesn’t do something about the speeder, he will do something himself.”

A man called to say that someone had taken his boat out on the lake, damaged it, and then brought it back to his residence sometime in the last two weeks.

Someone fell and hit their head at the fair, while another woman fainted on the midway Wednesday.

Two juveniles received a talking-to after shooting a .22 at ducks on Tamarack Lane.

A woman reported being stalked by a man who reportedly worked at her doctor’s office.

A caller from Hungry Horse reported a vehicle for “driving like jerks.”

A man outside of a U.S. 93 business was asking people for drugs on Thursday.


Columbia Falls Police received a report of two suspicious males on Eighth Street West who were “looking in vehicles” Thursday.


The Whitefish Police Department received a call from a man stating he was assaulted Monday night outside of a bar. The man was knocked out and taken to the hospital, however he did not want to press charges.

Someone reported three “vagrants” sitting in front of a Central Avenue business. Police advised them to move on.

A homeless person was camped out on Spokane Avenue and asked to move along.

A fight between a man and a woman was reported on Central Avenue around 10:30 p.m. Wednesday. Both had left by the time law enforcement arrived.

Another fight occurred on East Eighth Street early Thursday morning. The caller reported hearing someone get slapped, but the fighters had cleared out by the time cops arrived.

An intoxicated, shirtless man was kicked out of a Whitefish business Wednesday and then proceeded to yell into business windows attempting to start fights with other patrons. Police spoke with the man, who happened to have also been involved in one of the earlier fights.


Kalispell Police received a call from a woman on Rockefeller Drive on Wednesday who stated that “the hillbillies that live next to her are yelling and screaming and carrying on.”

A vehicle was reported for DUI after it drove through a construction area, knocking down construction tape and cones, as well as spinning donuts. Police made contact and the driver said it was accidental.

A carnival employee was fired and kicked out and called police because she was unsure what to do. The woman, who was scared and crying, stated she was from Wyoming and had nowhere to go.

More trouble was reported from the fair when a group of kids broke through the gate and three different vehicles drove in and were driving around the fairgrounds. Officers located the troublemakers and warned them regarding their bad behavior.

A man was spotted sleeping on the sidewalk off U.S. 2 West on Thursday.

A woman called police regarding a newspaper article because she was worried about cats in the city. She was counseled on city ordinances.

A woman called from Fifth Avenue East North and East Montana Street saying she drove past a man walking his dog. The woman hit a dead end and made a U-turn, and the man yelled and cursed at her to slow down, and then threw a tennis ball at her car.
