Fun time, fair time in the Flathead
Fair time brings a lot of fun for local residents, but it also brings a fair amount of trouble.
The Flathead County Sheriff’s Office received three calls about missing children at the Flathead County Fairgrounds in Kalispell on Thursday. Search-and-rescue personnal and members of the Sheriff’s Posse successfully reunited all children with their parents.
Another child had a bleeding head wound and was taken to urgent care for further evaluation.
Another person was treated and released by fair volunteers after receiving a 4-inch cut during a carnival ride.
A little girl fell and hit her head in front of the grandstands. Search and rescue evaluated her and she was released to her parents.
A man couldn’t have been having too much fun at the fair since he tried to assault and choke another man.
Someone received a spider bite at the fair on Wednesday and had signs and symptoms of infection.
A 16-year-old boy punched the back of one of the carnival trailers, causing a dent. The carnival owners didn’t want charges pressed but the boy was escorted off of the fairgrounds.
A group of six men were reported fighting in a bar on Central Avenue in Whitefish on Thursday.
Someone reported a man “in the road, either drunk or high on something” on South Fork Drive in Hungry Horse.
Someone called to report a neighbor for putting “large rocks in the road and making a hazard” on Swan Hill Drive in Bigfork. The caller said is an ongoing problem.
A delivery truck was vandalized and the diesel line was cut on Bando Lane on Thursday.
A very upset woman called from South Cedar Drive to say that she pays the electricity that powers two water spigots in her neighbor’s yard. She was upset because “she feels like she is paying the neighbor’s electricity and that is theft.” Officers advised her that it’s a civil matter.
A man chained another man’s motorcycle to a tree on Montana 35 on Thursday and wouldn’t give it back.
An 8-year-old girl learned a lesson Thursday after stealing from a store. Her mother made her return the item and then called to have a law officer talk to her about her actions as well.
A woman called from Fawn Trail in Whitefish to report a cat that had been stuck in a tree for the last two days.
An elderly man walked into the Whitefish Police Department on Thursday to turn in a firearm. The man stated he felt he was too old to be carrying the gun anymore.
An intoxicated man gave a person a scare when he knocked on their door on Kalispell Avenue and was attempting to gain entry into her storm door. Police made contact with the man and escorted him elsewhere.
The Lake County Sheriff’s Office made an arrest on disorderly conduct charges Thursday near Canyon Mill.
Kalispell Police received a report of a suspicious man on Heritage Way on Thursday who was walking around barefoot and leaving love notes for employees, making the employees very uncomfortable. The man was banned from the location.
A man made a few robbery attempts Thursday on U.S. 93 South. He began at a liquor store, and then went into a sandwich shop through the back entrance. He didn’t appear to have any weapons on him, but stood behind the counter with the employee. After the man had left, an employee from the sandwich shop called police back and said he believed the thief managed to get away with $701.
An injured owl was found on Lawrence Park Road.
A woman reported receiving calls she knew to be fraudulent, but the caller will not stop and she wanted to speak to police about her rights. The caller claimed that the woman owed money and that there would be a warrant put out for her arrest.
