Defending champ Lindholm tied for 4th at Mid-Am golf
BUTTE — Kalispell’s Logan Lindholm shot a 1-over-par 71 on Friday at the Montana State Mid-Amateur golf tournament to move into a tie for fourth place, seven shots back after the second round at Butte Country Club.
Lindholm, who won the 54-hole tournament last season, had birdies on his last two holes to improve on his opening-round score by two strokes. He wasn’t able to find birdies on the first day, carding just one hole under par to two bogeys and a double.
Lindholm has some work to do to keep his title, as he trails Helena’s Parker Heller, who torched the course on the opening day with four birdies and no bogeys to card a 66. Heller shot a 71 on Friday to fall back to the pack, but still holds a four-stroke lead over Clancy’s Michael Williams. Williams shot a 69 in the second round and Billings’ Jim Coleman, in third place at 3-over for the tournament, shot a 67.
Only two golfers have won consecutive Mid-Am championships in the 27-year history of the tournament, none since 2007.
