Glacier All-Stars lose World Series opener

GLEN ALLEN, Va. — Gainesville-Haymarket rallied for a 3-1 victory over Glacier Sunday evening at the Babe Ruth Baseball 13-year-old World Series.

Glacier, the Pacific Northwestern Regional champions, pushed a run across the plate on a RBI single by Lee Walburn in the first inning.

Glacier held a 1-0 heading into the bottom half of the fifth inning when Gainesville-Haymarket, the Virginia state champs, tied it up with a run and followed with two more in the sixth.

Walburn and Coby Clark-Dickinson held Gainesville-Haymarket to three hits. Walburn pitched the first four innings. He allowed one hit, struck out three and walked one batter.

Clark-Dickinson gave up two hits, walked two, fanned one batter and allowed three runs, all earned.

Andrew Casey tossed a 2-hitter for Gainesville-Haymarket. He had six strikeouts and walked two.

Walburn had both hits for Glacier. His other single was in the seventh inning.

Glacier (0-1) is back in action today versus Phoenix, Ariz., (2-0) at 2 p.m.
