Megaload on its way through Kalispell
The much-anticipated megaload that will head through Kalispell later this week was expected to enter Montana this morning.
The load, a massive piece of refinery equipment destined for Great Falls, was scheduled to end its overnight journey just east of the Idaho border on Montana 200 this morning.
Duane Williams, administrator of the Montana Motor Carrier Services Division, said the load was scheduled to be in the state earlier, but road conditions are an inexact science.
From the Montana-Idaho border, the megaload and its caravan will head up Montana 56, bypassing Troy and heading through Libby, stopping Wednesday morning on U.S. 2 at mile marker 35.5.
Wednesday night and Thursday morning, the megaload will move east on U.S. 2 and enter Flathead County, where it will come to a rest at the Kalispell truck scale near Kila.
During next night of travel, the trucks will move through the Flathead Valley and down Montana 83.
The caravan will only move between the hours of 10 p.m. and 6 a.m. to avoid congestion. Delays as long as 15 minutes can be expected for drivers who encounter the caravan.
