Glacier Skate Academy offers two more ice shows

| August 21, 2014 5:22 PM

Glacier Skate Academy, the Flathead Valley’s premier skating school, is offering summer shows with amateur and professional figure skaters. Saturday will be the second of three shows in August at the Stumptown Ice Den in Whitefish.

Performances are at 5 and 7 p.m.

The Aug. 23 performance, “Block Party,” is full out from start to finish. Featured this year are international pair team Sean Wirtz and Kristin Cowan.

Wirtz is the 1998 Canadian national champion, a two-time Canadian national bronze medalist, and Four Continents bronze medalist.

Together Wirtz and Cowan have performed all around the world with Holiday on Ice, and performed as Prince Eric and Ariel from “The Little Mermaid” in Disney’s “Rockin’ Ever After.”

On Aug. 30, Glacier Skate Academy’s final show is “Big City Bright Lights!”

This show travels from the stages of Broadway in New York to the bright lights of Las Vegas and ends on the sunny beaches of California with a tribute to the Beach Boys. This show highlights the grace and athleticism of  skaters including Glacier Skate Academy director Chad Goodwin.

Tickets are available at the door and online at www.glacierskateacademy.org. Shows are free for children age 5 and under.

Wine, beer and tapas will be available before each performance.
