Batty business inside rural post office
A woman called the Flathead County Sheriff’s Office Thursday to express concern about a bat that was seen in the Marion Post Office. An animal warden contacted an employee at the post office who said the bat has been around the post office all summer, but it hasn’t caused any problems.
There was a report of a cherry stand being broken into at a church on Adams Street in Lakeside. The caller said the door was kicked in, everything inside was smashed, and $50 was stolen along with about $150 in cherries.
A man calling from Willow Glen Drive said someone vandalized a tire on a vehicle and he suspected a neighbor did it.
A woman said a license plate, “YAKKA,” was stolen off her vehicle.
A man calling from a trailer park in Coram wanted to report his wife for stealing his hydrocodone pills.
A woman calling from a trailer park on Shady Lane wanted assistance because she had been kicked out of the park for showering in the women’s shower with a man, but she had already paid her rent.
A woman calling from Maple Drive said there were scratches on her car and she believes someone had been trying to break into it.
A woman said that a lock on her storage unit in Marion had been cut off and half of her belongings were missing.
Someone calling from Parliament Drive reported the theft of medication from a residence.
A bicycle was reported stolen from a location on West Evergreen Drive.
There was a report of two intoxicated women having a physical altercation at a location on U.S. 2 in Evergreen.
Someone calling from Caroline Road said there was a large mountain lion in the front yard and it was almost on the reporting party’s porch.
Early Friday, at about 1:50 a.m., someone was arrested after a traffic stop on U.S. 2 east of Kalispell.
Kalispell Police got a report Thursday about someone stealing liquor from a store on U.S. 93 South.
An employee at a hotel on U.S. 93 South asked for assistance when a suspicious man asked for a room, but there were no vacancies, and then he asked to use a bathroom, where he stayed for a long time.
Columbia Falls Police got a report Thursday about a man attempting to peddle drugs to passers-by on Ninth Street West. The man could not be located.
A person calling from Riverwood Lane said he caught two boys on bicycles attempting to get into neighbors’ vehicles. The caller said he ended up chasing the boys toward the junior high school, but they got away.
Whitefish Police got a call Thursday from a bouncer at a Central Avenue bar who wanted assistance in getting a disorderly bachelor party removed. The bouncer said the group threatened to bash his head into the ground. The men ended up leaving on their own.
Early Friday, at about 1:15 a.m., there was a group of people fighting in front of a Central Avenue bar. At least one person was arrested, possibly for drunk driving.
