Alert caller prevents drunken driving

Whitefish Police arrested a woman Sunday evening after she was seen attempting to drive on Lupfer Avenue while intoxicated. A caller spotted her before she could actually take off driving. When she was arrested, the woman was stuck in the snow in the apartment complex parking lot, trying to back over the curb.

A man was caught shoplifting at a U.S. 93 South business Sunday afternoon.

A man was found passed out in the back seat of his vehicle on Central Avenue just after midnight Sunday night. He was given a ride home.


A woman called Columbia Falls Police when she saw her missing dog in a Craigslist ad Sunday. She called the number listed in the ad, but it wasn’t working.


A watchful neighbor called the Flathead County Sheriff’s Office on Sunday morning when a car was parked at his out-of-town neighbor’s house on Trumble Creek Road for about 20 minutes. It turned out to be a man who had shot a deer with his bow on his property and tracked it to the Trumble Creek address.

A patrol car started on fire Sunday afternoon in Hungry Horse. The officer, who said he was outside with the car when the fire started, thought it may have been the heater motor.

A Lakeside woman reported that her purse had been stolen from a bar.

A dog was heard barking inside a storage unit in Kalispell on Sunday afternoon. The caller said barking had been heard since Thanksgiving (no word on why they didn’t report it sooner). The responding officer could hear a large dog barking inside, but spoke to a gentleman at another unit who told him that the bigger storage units are insulated and possibly heated. He was unable to contact the owner of the unit.

A man became lost while hunting Sunday. North Valley Search and Rescue located him using the signal from his cellphone and walked him out of the North Fork.


Kalispell Police received a call from a woman who said she had been getting messages from an inmate at the county jail. She said “Tim” keeps leaving her messages, the last one Sunday night saying, “I love you, sweet dreams.” She said she doesn’t know “Tim” and wanted him to stop calling.

A man was ticketed for stealing candy bars from a Third Avenue East North store Sunday night.

A woman said her disabled brother was being harassed and bullied via Facebook.

A transient man was almost struck by a vehicle when crossing U.S. 93 North on Sunday evening.
