Basketball roundup: Flathead swept in Bozeman

BOZEMAN — Flathead hung with Bozeman for first eight minutes before the Hawks exploded for a 76-35 Class AA boys basketball victory on Saturday.

Flathead led 8-6 after the opening quarter, but fell behind 26-14 at the half.

Bozeman outscored Flathead 50-21 in the second half.

Tyler Johnson led Flathead in scoring with eight points.

Flathead (1-1) plays at Class A Columbia Falls on Thursday.

Isaac Neumann tossed in 26 points and Clayton Hashley and BJ Bach followed with 15 and 10, respectively, as Stillwater Christian whipped Helena Christian in MCAA play at Stillwater Christian School.

Stillwater (1-1) led 41-16 at the half.

Hashley had four of Stillwater’s six treys in the game.

Stillwater opened the season on Friday, losing 67-59 to the Columbia Falls JV.

BOZEMAN — Bozeman jumped out to a 20-7 lead and never looked back in cruising to an easy Class AA victory over Flathead.

Bozeman led 40-10 at the half and outscored Flathead 24-5 in the second half.

Tiana Johnson had five points for Flathead.

Flathead (1-1) play at Columbia Falls on Thursday.

Sarah Paolini popped for 32 points and pulled down 13 rebounds in Stillwater Christian’s MCAA victory over Helena Christian at Stillwater Christian School.

Paolini had 18 points in the first half. She also finished with four assists and six steals.

Dori Smith scored 14 of her 16 points in the second half to help carry the load for Stillwater (1-1).
