Wolverines win in double OT

Aleksei Garin scored on a power play in the second overtime to give the Whitefish Wolverines a 4-3 Western States Hockey League victory over the Butte Cobras at the Stumptown Ice Den on Friday night.

Assisting on the game-winning goal were Danny Roe and Richard Mulligan.

Whitefish converted on three of four power play opportunities.

Ian Wiens and Chris Cutshall had first period goals for Whitefish.

Roe scored a goal in the third period.

Whitefish (8-16-1) hosts Butte (5-16-1) tonight at 7 in another Northwest Division matchup at the Ice Den.

After tonight’s game, the Wolverines will compete in the Western States Shootout in Las Vegas next week.

The Shootout is a Junior A event. All four games for the Wolverines will be broadcast at FASTHockey.com.

College recruiters and scouts annually attend this competition.
