Boys basketball: Great Falls downs Flathead

GREAT FALLS — Great Falls exploded for 32 points in the third quarter to cruise by Flathead 87-60 on Saturday in Class AA boys nonconference basketball action.

Great Falls held a 41-27 lead at intermission.

Brendan Howard led Great Falls, and all scorers, with 23 points.

Matt Marshall had 17 points for Flathead. Blake Wilson added 15.

Great Falls was 18 of 24 free throw shooting to Flathead’s 7 of 15.

Flathead has dropped three straight after an opening-season victory over Whitefish.

Flathead (1-3) plays its fifth-straight road game on Friday at Class A Polson. The home opener for the Braves is Saturday with Coeur d’Alene, Idaho. That’s also the team’s final game before the holiday break.
