Man refuses to pay for gas

The Flathead County Sheriff’s Office took a call from a gas station employee on Montana 35 about a disoriented man who pumped gas and then refused to pay. The man said he was trying to get to the hospital and that the gas station’s “system was connected to my system.” This confusing statement, along with other strange behavior prompted the call to law enforcement. The man’s girlfriend picked him up, paid for the gas and took him to the hospital.

A Christmas tree lot on U.S. 2 called about several trees being stolen during the night. Early reports of the thief described him as green-skinned and “a mean one.”

A Cougar Trail couple in Whitefish were wary about “two bums” they saw outside their home wearing coveralls and “funny hats.” Police were unable to find the haberdashery hoboes.

An elderly woman on Willow Glen Drive in Kalispell was screaming for help, and claiming that her daughter had assaulted her. The woman was very drunk and upset, and her daughter had not assaulted her.

A Cedar Drive owner of a trailer park in Kalispell said he was pushed down and hit by teenagers. He told these trailer park boys to “frig off” and said he’d call back if any more problems arose.


A 5:28 p.m. call about a structure fire on West Valley Drive in Kalispell spurred a quick response by the Smith Valley Fire Department, but it turned out just to be steam off a heating unit.


A woman parked by a pizza place in Whitefish came back from shopping to find a expletive-ridden note tucked under her windshield wiper sarcastically “thanking” the owner of the vehicle for damaging their door. She was confused because she had not damaged anyone’s door, much less had any visible damage on her vehicle. She called the Whitefish Police Department who took her information down in case someone tried to report her for a hit and run.

A man suffering from a self-inflicted gunshot wound was taken to the Whitefish hospital, and several of the man’s drunken buddies were wandering around the emergency room.


The Columbia Falls Police Department was informed that a public fountain on Talbot Road was broken and spilling water everywhere. Public Works was advised of the ongoing issue.


The Polson Police Department made an arrest for disorderly conduct when responding to a possible partner-family member assault on Main Street.

A multiple-vehicle accident near a grocery store in Polson had blocked two lanes of traffic. Emergency personnel responded and the cars were towed. Traffic was cleared after about 25 minutes.
