Fugitive not found at West Side home

| December 16, 2014 9:55 PM

Several members of the Kalispell Police Department were involved in a police action on Ninth Avenue West in search of a man wanted on a felony warrant. Passers-by reported seeing shotguns drawn, and Police Chief Roger Nasset said that was necessitated by the wanted man’s rap sheet. Nasset said officers were unable to locate the man.

An employee at a pet store on Treeline Road called police after finding a nasty surprise in the bathroom. He opened the door to find an alligator giving him a toothy grin. Several employees were able to put the gator in “custody” before transporting it to a Kalispell aquarium for Fish, Wildlife and Game to pick up. No word on whether there are gators living in the sewers under Kalispell, but we tend to doubt it.

The Flathead County Sheriff’s Office was called about a coffee kiosk which had been broken into on U.S. 2 in Kalispell. The door was wide open and the window was busted out, but it didn’t appear that anything was taken from the kiosk.

An Addison Square resident called law enforcement about two men in an idling car just hanging out in his shop’s driveway. He tried to shoo them off, but they didn’t budge until he started dialing his phone.

A Montclair Drive woman in Evergreen called law enforcement after having friends over and noticing money was missing. She had taken all their car keys and was holding them (the keys!) hostage until she got her money back.

The Whitefish Police Department was called after a man noticed his snowboard and bindings missing from the roof of his vehicle on Spokane Avenue not far from the downtown area.

A heavily intoxicated man on Lupfer Avenue was stumbling and falling down while walking away from downtown. The caller was concerned he might be struck by a car.

The Ferndale Volunteer Fire Department took a mid-day call about a structure fire, calling in the Bigfork and Creston fire departments as well. Several hours later the crews had not yet returned to the stations and more information was not available.
