POLSON — The Polson Pirates used four first-period pins and a major decision to defeat the Libby Loggers 46-24 in an early season Northwest A wrestling dual on Tuesday night.

The Pirates’ Mateo Quinones (103), Cameron Brown (120), Jaben Wenzel (132) and Tele Seemann (170) recorded falls, earning a combined 24 team points. Seemann’s fall was the fastest of the night, defeating Michael Miller in 19 seconds.

The only match of the contest not to be decided by a pin or foreit was Freshman Parker Adler’s 13-1 major decision over Libby’s Lane Young in the 126-pound weight class.

“We’ve got a lot of young guys in our lineup and I was pleased. They wrestled well,” Polson head coach Bob Owen said,

“I’m glad we have a full season ahead of us. With the younger kids in our lineup, it’s going to take a whole season, but they’re really scrappy. They’re tough, and it was good to see tonight.

The Loggers won by pin in three bouts. Dillon Roby (138), Zach Crace (152) and Alex Yeadon earned falls for Libby.
