Basketball roundup: Libby girls upend Whitefish

WHITEFISH — Libby outscored Whitefish 26-1 in the first and periods to claim an easy 48-23 Northwestern A girls basketball victory on Friday night.

Libby, up 22-12 at intermission, had nine players figure in the scoring. Dayln Germany and Shyla Stevenson shared those honors with eight points each. Shannon Reny added seven.

Whitefish also had nine scorers, led by Coral Schulz and Cevana Lawshe with four each.

Whitefish plays at Class AA Glacier today at 4:15 p.m.

This was the final game before the holiday break for Libby.

GREAT FALLS — Glacier never recovered from a slow start, falling to Great Falls High in a Class AA nonconference matchup.

Great Falls held a commanding 33-14 lead at the half.

Glacier did strike back in the second half by scoring 29 points.

Hailey Bennett led Glacier with 16 points.

Hannah Collins and Nora Klick both scored 13 for Great Falls.

Glacier hosts Class A Whitefish today at 4:15 p.m.

Flathead 65, Polson 58

POLSON — Flathead used a strong start to drop Polson in a Class AA versus Class A nonconference matchup.

Flathead jumped in front 33-16, but had to hold off a determined Polson squad in the fourth quarter. Polson closed to within four points with just under two minutes to play, but could get no closer.

Matt Marshall led Flathead, and all scorers, with 21 points. Tyler Johnson followed with 16 and Alex Croymans tallied 11.

Andrew Curley hit five treys for Polson and finished with 19 points. Payton Lefthand was next with 12 points for Polson, which outscored Flathead 24-16 in the final eight minutes.

Flathead entertains Coeur d’Alene, Idaho, today in nonconference play at 4:30 p.m.
