Virginia Lee Riebe, 80
Virginia Lee Riebe, 80, passed away on Dec. 20, 2014, at Kalispell Regional Medical Center.
Virginia was born July 27, 1934, in Wenatchee, Washington, to George and Helen Bertrand. Her family moved to Kalispell in 1951 where she finished her senior year and graduated from Flathead High School in 1952. That same year Virginia met her lifelong husband Allen Riebe while he was in the service. They were married just as soon as Virginia graduated high school and while Allen was home on leave, May 23, 1952.
Virginia and Allen were charter members of both the Flathead Pioneer Auto Club and the West Valley Fire Department and Auxiliary, as well as members of the Eagles where they both thoroughly enjoyed dancing and socializing with their many friends.
Virginia was an extremely talented craftswomen. Her many skills included quilting, knitting, sewing, crocheting, and needlework. She also loved collections of many many kinds from their antique cars to her beanie babies. Virginia loved when her grandchildren and great-grandchildren would visit their little blue house on the hill, which she and Allen built together 56 years ago. She and Allen spent many days on the road traveling to car and truck shows as well as many summers at their cabin on McGregor Lake with family and friends. Virginia was a wonderful cook and was especially proud of her lefse and huckleberry pies.
Virginia was preceded in death by her eldest son, David Riebe. Virginia is survived by her husband, Allen; her sister, Maureen Baker; and her brother and sister-in-law Arnie and Marion Riebe; her children Pauline, Bill and his wife Cindy, and Mike Riebe; her grandchildren, Jennifer and her husband Young Stebbins-Han, Jonathan and his wife Martha Stebbins, Samantha and Savanna Riebe, and Lindsay and Travis Riebe; and her great-grandchildren, Ella, Jon Tae and Keenan Stebbins-Han.
Funeral services will be held Tuesday, Dec. 23, at 1 p.m. at Johnson-Gloschat Funeral Home. An open house will be held at the home of Allen and Virginia following the service and ending at 5 p.m. A private burial will be held at C.E. Conrad Memorial Cemetery at a later time.
