Mother injured in vacuum cleaner cord mishap

The Columbia Falls Police Department received a report of a mother “whipping” her son with a vacuum cleaner cord at their shared home on Ninth Avenue West. The argument started over something regarding the water heater, and escalated quickly. During the alleged altercation, the son advanced toward his mother, tripped and fell on her. She said her neck was hurting, and the son called emergency services to help her.

A woman on Fourth Street East told authorities her neighbor “is horrible.” The caller said the neighbor continually destroys her property and “did some stuff to her carport.”

A two-vehicle accident occurred on 12th Avenue West, but no one was injured.

A man and woman were reported “screaming and yelling” in front of a store on Nucleus Avenue. It turned out to be intoxicated customers who got a ride home.

A deer in the middle of the road on U.S. 93 South was reported by a driver to the Whitefish Police Department. The woman said she ran over the deer, which was already dead, and felt it could cause damage to a smaller car.

A fairly new gray and red bike was abandoned overnight in a snow bank on West Second Street.

A man was seen checking mailboxes along West Third Street and West Second Street. The man opened and closed several mailboxes. The man was located by officers, and said he only checked his own box.

A caller told the Flathead County Sheriff’s Office there was an unknown car parked in front of a man’s garage on Monte Vista Drive in Columbia Falls. Officers suggested he have it towed.

People on the bike path near Panoramic Drive in Kalispell said transients started “raising hell” with them, and chased them away. The report noted there was garbage at the site, and the transients had built a camp and bridge around the creek near the Ashley Creek Bridge. Officers inspected the area and were unable to locate anyone.

A storage facility on East Evergreen Drive had the locks cut off several units. It was unknown if anything was missing.  

A resident heard a high-powered gunshot on Montana 40 near Columbia Falls. No cause for the shot was found.

The front license plate was stolen off a vehicle on Larch Hill Drive in Columbia Falls. The reporter was advised to get new plates.

A 29-year-old woman and her dog were walking south on U.S. 2 East in Kalispell and were picked up by a driver. The woman, allegedly confused, did not know her own name. The driver took the woman to her house, and officers picked her up.

Several cars were spinning “brodies” in the culs-de-sac near Lupine Drive. The rambunctious drivers were not located.

A man was attempting to break into a car on Cottonwood Drive in Kalispell. He was dressed in black, with a yellow backpack, but eventually left the scene without breaking into the car.

Officers found the drivers of several trucks behind a business on U.S. 2 East who were “getting ready to spin brodies.” Officers advised them to move along.

The Montana Department of Transportation reported a tree across U.S. 2 approximately 10 miles east of Libby, around mile marker 42. The eastbound lane was blocked, and brought traffic down to a single lane for approximately 35 minutes.
