Glacier seniors Tanner Stupack and Zach Dennehy each picked up a pair of wins on senior night, but the Wolfpack fell twice in duals — to Helena High 43-24 and Helena Capital 45-33 — on Saturday night.

Stupack got the Wolfpack off on the right foot against Capital, opening the dual with a 4-0 decision over the Bruins’ Nick Argento. Stupack had a takedown in each of the first two periods and rode out the third period to give Glacier an early 3-0 lead.

But Glacier didn’t pick up any points until Dennehy wrestled four matches later, falling in an 18-3 hole after two pins and a forfeit.

Dennehy nearly pinned Capital’s Dillon Koffman twice in the first round, getting the Bruins senior in a cradle in the opening seconds and in a spladle with 30 seconds to go, only for Koffman to escape both times.

Koffman reversed Dennehy twice in the second and rode out the time in the third to send the match to overtime. Dennehy didn’t take much time to win it in the extra session, quickly getting a takedown to take the 9-7 win.

Justin Gibson dominated Capital’s Parker Dulaney and earned a pin in just 2:36 at 98 to get Glacier’s team score back to within six, but the Bruins stretched the lead back out with a forfeit and a pin in the next two matches.

Glacier won three of the next four matches, earning a decision by Cody Decker at 126 pounds and a pin by Quinn Barber at 138 to get back within nine points at 36-27. Capital sealed the dual in the next match, though, getting a pin at 145.

Arik Lybeck pinned Capital’s Kory Broussard in 5:01 to pick up Glacier’s last points of the night, with the Bruins taking the last match by decision.

The dual with Helena was more lopsided, the Wolfpack only winning five matches with two coming by forfeit.

Dennehy needed just 1:10 to pin Helena’s Jammer Halverson at heavyweight and Stupack earned a 6-4 decision at 170. Sam Barber beat the Bengals’ Thornton Heppler 5-3 in the only other Glacier victory.

“I thought we scrapped well,” Glacier coach Ross Dankers said. “Bonus points is what it came down to in the meet ... Same story both times.”

With only two weeks left in the season, the Wolfpack turns its attention to the Western AA seeding tournament Saturday in Helena. The state tournament is Feb. 14-15 in Billings.

“We’re just kinda fine tuning and going over everything again. Making sure we’re solid,” Dankers said. “Getting ourselves mentally prepared is the big part.”
