Drunk man leaves car running overnight

A concerned Santa Fe Street resident reported their neighbor’s car had been running all night and that no one answered the door. Responding Kalispell Police Department officers discovered the man, drunk and passed out, inside his home. They turned off his vehicle.

Although it is unclear what misfortune had befallen several birds in the parking lot of a North Main Street store, an employee reported they were still alive and that she had two of them in a box in the store. She was counseled on options to take care of the birds.

A woman was transported to the hospital before being taken to the Flathead County Detention Center after she was found slumped over the wheel of her vehicle in a First Avenue East North parking lot. She was found to have a felony warrant for writing bad checks.

A handicapped man was sent on his way and banned from an Appleway Drive apartment property after the manager reported receiving several complaints about the man living in his vehicle there.

A man was advised of his warrant and told not to return to the property of a Third Avenue East North grocery store after he was reported badgering customers and employees.

A group of four youths were reported smoking the cigarette butts they dug out of an ashtray behind an East Idaho Street auto parts store.

A 12th Street East man reported someone rang his doorbell and fled, leaving behind a bag on his doorstep full of what appeared to be yellow flour.

A girl was found to be in violation of curfew after she and a man were reported shoplifting from a Third Avenue East North store.

A vehicle stalled at the intersection of Main Street and Idaho Street, but “a good Samaritan with a tow chain saved the day.”

A pair of vehicles got stuck together on Treeline Road after one of them stalled and rolled backward into the other. Neither vehicle was damaged.

A man was reported beating up on a pit bull on South Woodland Drive.

Power tools were stolen from a First Avenue West job site.


An East Oregon Street resident in Kalispell mistakenly contacted the Whitefish Police Department to report his neighbor was laying on the ground with a snow shovel in his hand, and when asked what he was doing said “just trying to shovel snow.” The resident helped the man to his feet and helped him inside. He was checked on and found to be doing fine.

An O’Brien Avenue resident complained about his extremely drunk upstairs neighbor playing loud music.

A Microsoft Surface tablet computer and sunglasses were stolen from a vehicle on East Fourth Street.


A man was arrested after a Columbia Falls Police Department officer responded to Nucleus Avenue after receiving a report that there were “a bunch of brawls going on.” A victim declined medical attention for his eye.
