Flathead, Glacier swimmers cut times in final before state

HELENA — Flathead and Glacier swimmers continue to chop time in preparation for the State Meet in Butte in two weeks.

Flathead totaled 25 best times and Glacier nine at the Bohn-Morer Invitational on Saturday.

For Flathead, Amanda Rush shaved 23 seconds off her 200 freestyle (2:45) and had a season-best showing in the 100 freestyle (1:11).

Madison Lovett knocked 18 seconds off her previous best in the 200 freestyle (2:33).

Maggie Mulcahey had season-best times in the 200 (2:22) and 500 freestyle (6:21), as did Jenna Wilke in the 100 butterfly (1:28) and 200 individual medley (3:09) and Amalia Csaplar in the 100 backstroke (1:16) and 50 freestyle (29.8).

Glacier’s Tristan Sauer had her best times in the 100 breaststroke (1:22) and 100 freestyle (1:02).

Tessa Howe improved by 14 seconds in the 100 freestyle (1:18). She also had a best time in the 100 breaststroke (1:24).

John Putnam swam his fastest 100 breaststroke (1:22) and trimmed 24 seconds off his 200 freestyle (2:32) time.

Bailey Smith swam in two new events — 200 free (2:29) and 500 free (6:37) — with solid times.

Glacier’s Jake Cirincione and Joshua Loyda were event winners in the 100 butterfly (54.90) and 100 backstroke (55.68), respectively.

Cirincione and Loyda also finished third in the 200 individual medley (2:10.97) and 50 freestyle (22.55), respectively.

Flathead’s McKenzie Lane was sixth in the 500 freestyle (6:08.47).

Glacier’s boys were third in the 200 freestyle relay and fifth in the 400 freestyle relay.

On the team front, Glacier’s boys finished fifth and the girls were 11th. Flathead’s girls placed 10th and the boys were 11th.

This was the final meet of the regular season for Flathead and Glacier.

The state meet runs Feb. 14-15.
