Roberts wins 3rd mat title; C-Falls repeats as divisional champs
LIBBY — Shonn Roberts won his third straight Northwestern A divisional title on Saturday with a pin in the final at 126 pounds to help Columbia Falls defend its team wrestling championship.
Columbia Falls finished with seven champions, four runners-up, two third-place finishers and five wrestlers placed fifth in a dominant show of force.
Also winning individual titles for the fourth-ranked Mat Cats were Mason Fetters (113), Kaleb Gravelin (120), Haze Bell (132), Bryan Shaffer (152), Cody Walters (160) and Spencer Ross (heavyweight).
Runners-up were Manny Guzman (98), Winfield West (106), Zayne Brunz (145) and Ike Schweikert (182).
Fifth-ranked Frenchtown had four individual winners while Polson and Libby both had two.
Libby’s Zach Crace won at 138 and Garret Chapel finished first at 170.
Polson’s winners were Tele Seemann (182) and Mike Corrigan (195).
The top four wrestlers advance to the state tournament, which begins Friday in Billings.
Whitefish had two individuals place second — Matthew Sampson (152) and Steven Quimby (heavyweight).
