Dorothy Ellen Nelson, 85

Dorothy Ellen Nelson, 85, of Columbia Falls, passed away on Saturday, Feb. 8, 2014, at Brendan House in Kalispell, with her three children at her side.

She was born to Ulysses and Theresa Kraft, the second of 11 children, near Box Elder in Eastern Montana, on June 8, 1928, and raised on the family homestead on Kraft Corner in Columbia Falls.

She married Jake Nelson on Sept. 13, 1960, and raised four children, Sharon, Jackie, Jill and Gary.

Dorothy had a warmth of spirit and an abundance of kindness and compassion that enriched the lives of all who knew her. Her sweet smile and loving generosity will be missed by everyone.

Dorothy is survived by her brother, Laurence, of Columbia Falls; daughters, Jackie of Grass Lakes, Mich., and Jillene of Kalispell; and her son, Gary, of Columbia Falls.

A memorial service for Dorothy will be held at 2 p.m. on Thursday, Feb. 13, at Columbia Mortuary.
