Landscape exhibit focuses on movement
The Hockaday Museum of Art in Kalispell announces “Terra Strata,” an exhibition of conceptual landscape works by Hamilton artist Pamela Caughey, on display Feb. 20 through April 26.
Caughey is an experimental artist who uses mixed media and encaustic painting to capture the essence of the conceptual landscape. Her work often reflects emotional states of the “inner landscape,” but is also inspired by the movement, texture and energy of the physical landscapes that surround us.
The opening reception for “Terra Strata” will be held on Thursday, Feb. 20, from 5 to 7 p.m. Admission to the opening reception is free. Caughey will be speaking at 4:30 p.m. as part of the Hockaday’s “Conversations with the Artists” series prior to the reception.
Admission for the talk is free for museum members and $10 for nonmembers. Throughout the exhibit, visitors may learn more about the art by taking one of the docent-guided tours held Thursday and Saturday mornings at 10:30 a.m. (included with guest admission).
The Hockaday is located at 302 Second Ave East. Visit www.HockadayMuseum.org or call 755-5268.
