'Tis the season for tax-fraud reports

The Flathead County Sheriff’s Office received a pair of reports of tax-related fraud, first from a Patriot Way resident who said someone stole his children’s Social Security numbers and was told by the IRS to report it and second from a First Avenue North resident in Martin City who was told by the IRS that someone had already filed taxes under his name.

A woman who walks her children past the area where a stabbing occurred in Evergreen called with questions about someone cleaning the blood off the sidewalk.

A deputy used a Taser on a boy and transported him to the Flathead County Juvenile Detention Center after stopping three youths on U.S. 2 East late Thursday night.

A former employee of a Riverside Road business who had been authorized to buy gas on the company account was reported for charging $1,500 worth of gas and $600 worth of auto parts after being fired.

The Kalispell Police Department received a pair of opposing reports regarding a dispute between Ninth Avenue West neighbors.

The first call came from a resident who complained that the neighbors were playing drums in the garage, sounding like band practice, and wanting them quieted down. A responding officer reported all was quiet.

A followup call was then made by the neighbors who said the person who made the noise complaint was consistently reporting them for things — using law enforcement to harass them — and had made the most recent complaint after their 6-year-old relative was playing on their drum set for only “a matter of moments.”

A man reported his ex-girlfriend to police after she punched him when he broke up with her. He declined medical treatment but requested charges be pressed against her.

A passer-by said a dog on Second Avenue West jumped a fence and tried to attack a man on a bicycle, who managed to pedal away.

One motorist suffered bad whiplash and the other driver was arrested following a rear-end collision on Grandview Drive.

A captured cleaning crewman contacted the Whitefish Police Department after getting locked inside the mall. He had been stuck there nearly half an hour. An officer was eventually able to contact the manager of one of the stores to let the man out.

A ballistic Baker Avenue parent reported his son suffered a broken nose after being assaulted by a freshman at the high school.
