State swim: Glacier's Loyda, Cirincione finish second

BUTTE — Glacier senior standout Joshua Loyda closed out his prep career by placing second in the 100 backstroke (53.74) and third in the 50 freestyle (22.27) on Saturday at the State Swim Meet at the Butte YMCA pool.

Teammate Jake Cirincione finished second in the 100 butterfly (54.65) and fourth in the 200 individual medley relay (2:09.06).

Both swimmers also helped the Wolfpack place second in the 200 freestyle (1:34.93) and sixth in the 200 medley relay (1:49.8).

Nate Burnham and Alex Augusta also swam on the freestyle for Glacier.

Tommy Briner and Augusta were the other two members of the medley relay.

On the team front, the Glacier boys were fifth with 93 points and Flathead finished 14th with 10 points.

On the girls side, Glacier and Flathead did not have a swimmer in the finals.

In the consolation finals, Flathead’s McKenzie Lane finished 10th in the 500 freestyle.

Team-wise, Glacier was 12th with 10 points and Flathead 13th with seven.

Flathead and Glacier had 27 swimmers at state and combined they posted 51 best times.

Missoula Hellgate easily won the Class AA boys and girls team championships.
