Bigfork Playhouse Children's Theater holding auditions

| February 20, 2014 2:35 PM

The Bigfork Playhouse Children’s Theater invites students in grades 5 through 12 to audition for the cast of the undercover sleuthing musical “Lucky Dollar, Private Eye.”

Auditions will be held at the Bigfork Playhouse Children’s Theatre Afterschool Arts Center, located at 833 Grand Ave., on Tuesday, Feb. 25 from 5 to 6 p.m. for fifth through seventh grades and 6 to 8 p.m. for eighth through 12th grades.

Los Angeles’ favorite gumshoe is searching for the deadly Pearl of Persia and battling his old foes: The Fat Man, mad Mrs. Mintworth, Brush Mohair and the evil Conchita. It’s a tough job but it has its up side — the “dames,” who find him irresistible. So what if the bodies are piling up and Lucky’s arrested on a murder rap? See what happens when our hero gets trapped in a madhouse run by the villainous Montrose Hogsbreath.

This production calls for a large cast; 12 female features, 7 male features and a medium chorus of ‘colorful’ L.A. characters. It costs nothing to audition, with a $40 participation fee for cast members. Prepare a 30-second monologue or short selection from another play or book, and plan to learn and sing something for us at the audition. Don’t worry if you don’t have experience, we’ll have materials at the theatre for you. Wear comfortable shoes that you can move in, as we will be moving around the stage.

For those not interested in being onstage but still want to be involved, help is always needed with building sets and props, making costumes, and working with the lights and sound. Parental and student assistance is welcome.
