Columbia Falls sweeps Libby in basketball

COLUMBIA FALLS — Libby hung with Columbia Falls for nearly three quarters before the Wildcats pulled away for a 60-38 Northwestern A boys basketball victory Friday night.

With the game tied 28-all with three minutes left in the third period, Columbia Falls (14-4 overall, 7-1 league) went on a 10-0 run for a 38-28 edge. Columbia Falls then opened the fourth quarter on a 10-2 spurt and outscored Libby 22-10 in the quarter.

Jared Trinastich led Columbia Falls in scoring with 24 points.

“Trinastich had a tremendous game,” Columbia Falls coach Cary Finberg said.

“The kids found a way to get things corrected there (in the end).”

Jared Winslow had a big game for Libby, scoring 23 points.

COLUMBIA FALLS — Sydney Finberg scored 15 points and posted six assists as the top-ranked Columbia Falls Wildkats rolled past Libby in Northwestern A play.

Columbia Falls (17-1, 8-0) led 32-9 at intermission.

Haley Belgarde tallied 14 points for Columbia Falls and Winter Kemppainen finished with 12 points, seven rebounds and four steals.

Columbia Falls outrebounded Libby 26-13 and won the turnover battle 22-11.

“I like the way the girls came out right from the start,” Columbia Falls coach Cary Finberg said.

“We took control early.”

Shyla Stevenson had nine points for Libby.
