Girls basketball: Glacier beats Helena; Capital downs Flathead
HELENA — Glacier bounced back from a tough 60-59 Friday night loss to top-ranked Helena Capital to defeat Helena High 53-38 Saturday afternoon in a Western AA girls basketball matchup.
Glacier (12-6 overall, 6-4 league) blew the game open in the second half, outscoring the Bengals 35-23. Glacier led 18-15 at intermission.
Cassie Hashley posted a double-double for Glacier with 13 points and 14 rebounds.
Taylor Loomis led Glacier, and all scorers, with 18 points. She was 7 of 11 shooting from the field and went 3 for 4 at the free-throw line.
Helena High outrebounded the Wolfpack 36-28.
Jessica Stockton and Regan Fruh led Helena in scoring with 11 and 10 points, respectively.
Glacier has two regular-season games left — Tuesday at Missoula Hellgate and Friday at Flathead.

HELENA — Top-ranked Helena Capital outscored Flathead 16-9 in the second period to take a 27-15 halftime lead and held that advantage for the remainder of play to claim a Western AA victory.
Capital (17-1, 10-0) was led by Michaela Dowdy’s 19 points.
Emma Andrews scored 18 points for Flathead (4-14, 1-9).
Flathead, with 18 turnovers, had five fewer than Capital, but lost the battle on the boards 28-16.
Flathead has two regular-season games left, both at home, Thursday versus Missoula Hellgate and Friday with Glacier.
